Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh, Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam at his ministry office in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The foreign secretary welcomed the newly appointed ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh and congratulated her on her appointment.

The foreign secretary assured the ambassador of all possible cooperation during her tenure in Bangladesh.

The Bhutanese ambassador congratulated the foreign secretary on assuming his new responsibilities and handed over a congratulatory letter from the foreign secretary of Bhutan.

During the meeting, they discussed various areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and education.

Referring to the excellent and longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Bhutan, the foreign secretary emphasised that there is substantial potential for deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Highlighting the quality of various Bangladeshi products, the foreign secretary hoped that Bangladesh’s exports to Bhutan would see an increase.

He noted that the next round of the Commerce Secretary Level Meeting would be convened in Dhaka at a mutually convenient date.

He conveyed that Bangladesh is looking forward to the next round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) to be held this year in Dhaka at a mutually convenient time.
