Professor Nigar Sultana, dean of Business Studies Faculty at Jahangirnagar University (JU), has resigned from her post amid student protests, citing personal reasons.
JU acting registrar ABM Azizur Rahman confirmed her resignation on Sunday afternoon.
In a letter addressed to the Registrar on Saturday (28 June), Professor Nigar Sultana expressed her wish to resign from her post due to personal reasons.
"I have served as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies from 16 May 2024 to 28 June 2025. For personal reasons, I am requesting to be relieved from my duties as Dean effective 28 June 2025,” the letter read.
Earlier on Saturday, a group of protesting students disrupted a Senate session and forced Professor Sultana to leave, alleging she played a controversial role during the July Uprising last year.
