Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus does not want to be officially recognised as the “national reformer,” nor does the government has any intention to confer any such title on him, his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Recently, the High Court (HC), in response to a writ petition, asked authorities to explain why Prof Yunus should not be officially recognised as the “National Reformer.”
“The government would like to clarify that Professor Yunus does not intend to be declared as such, nor does the government plan to confer any such title on Professor Yunus,” Shafiqul Alam said in his facebook post.
“The writ petitioner appears to have filed the petition on his own, and it is unclear on what basis the direction has been sought,” Shafiqul added.
The government will respond to the HC rule in due course after it has received a copy of the order, the press secretary said, noting the office of the Attorney General will address the matter.
