After an historic incident of venue change at the mid-break at the Bashundhara Sports Complex, Bangladesh under-20 women’s national football team have beaten Bhutan by 4-1 to register their third win in the ongoing SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship on Tuesday afternoon.

The dramatic game kicked off at 3:00 PM BST at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital.

Due to heavy rain, the condition of the ground deteriorated so much in the first half that the match officials, after two inspections, decided to conduct the second half at the Bashundhara Kings Arena Practice Ground, only a 10-minute walk from the first ground.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh managed to find the net early on.

In the 7th minute, winger Umehla Marma’s cutback from the right created confusion in the Bhutanese box. Both Sree Moti Trishna Rani and Shanti Mardi initially missed the connection, but Shanti recovered quickly to slot the ball home and give the Tigresses a 1-0 lead.

The second half started at 6:49 PM.

On the better ground, both teams started playing better.

Bhutan, better in the second half on a better ground, equalized in the 53rd minute, after a nice finish by Sangay Wangmo.

Conceding a goal, Bangladesh started to attack relentlessly. As a result, Shanti Mardi scored her second of the match in the 57th minute of the match, following a corner.

The Tigresses did not stop, as substitute Munki Akhter scored her first in the 76th minute after an excellent run from midfield.

Just after three minutes, Shanti Mardi completed her hattrick by converting Umehla Marma's cross from the right wing nicely to extend Bangladesh's lead to 4-1.

None of the teams could score in the final minutes, which secured the third consecutive win for Peter Butler's side.

Bangladesh, currently at the top of the table with three wins from three matches, will play theor fourth match against Bhutan on Thursday.
