With Rangpur Riders securing their third straight win and booking a place in the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League final, Iftikhar Ahmed credited the team environment and winning mentality for their continued success.

“It’s a great feeling when you play for a side like Rangpur Riders,” said the experienced all-rounder after the match.

“We have a great squad and it’s an extra motivation. We were the winners last season and we want to reach the final. Our batting lineup is deep and we have all the sides covered.”

Iftikhar played a pivotal role in Wednesday’s eight-run win over Dubai Capitals at Providence Stadium, scoring an unbeaten 41 off 32 balls in a crucial 54-run partnership with captain Nurul Hasan (34* off 18).

“The way Nurul motivated me is always an extra motivation,” he added.

“We felt we could put up a big score and eventually give Dubai a target which is unachievable.”
