Rangpur Riders skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan has credited the team effort for reaching the finals of the ongoing ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League on Wednesday.

The defending champions have defeated Dubai Capitals by eight runs at the Providence Stadium in Guyana to secure their third consecutive win in the tournament.

“We had a challenge from the first and the boys did really well. Obviously, we are looking for the final,” Sohan said at the post-match presentation.

The match, once looking easy for Riders as Capitals needed 28 from the last 12 deliveries, became challenging after Qais Ahmed hit two sixes and a boundary off Azmatullah Omarzai within four balls.

But Omarzai, and then Khaled in the last over, kept their composure to register the victory for Riders.
Earlier, Rangpur posted 158 on the board, as Iftikhar and Nurul scored 37 runs in the last two overs.

Later, Riders bowlers picked up the first three wickets within five overs to have a good start.

“The last two overs (with the bat) were really good for us. Also, the way we started with the ball, it really worked for us,” Sohan added.

The skipper credited the whole team for making it to the finals.

“It’s all about the team effort. Boys really worked hard for this. Credit goes to all team members,” Sohan added.

For the final on 19 July, Sohan addressed both Guyana Amazon Warriors and Hobart Hurricanes as tough opponents.

“Both teams are really hard (Guyana and Hobart). It will be good to watch tonight’s match as well,” Sohan concluded.

Rangpur Riders will play the last group stage match on Thursday against Central Stags at the same venue.
