The stage is set at Providence Cricket Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana, where defending champions Rangpur Riders will lock horns with host side Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Global Super League (GSL) 2025 final on Saturday (5:00 a.m. BST). After winning the inaugural edition last year, Nurul Hasan Sohan’s team now eyes back-to-back titles—a feat that would cement their status as the league’s powerhouse.

Rangpur’s road to the final has been as impressive as it has been composed. They started their campaign by defeating the hosts Guyana in the opening clash, signaling their intent. A nail-biting 1-run victory over Big Bash champions Hobart Hurricanes followed, showcasing Rangpur’s nerve under pressure. Their third straight win—a hard-fought 8-run success against Dubai Capitals—booked them a second consecutive final berth with one game in hand.

Riders' head coach Mohammad Ashraful believes experience and adaptability have been key. “Playing last year gave us an idea about the conditions,” Ashraful told Daily Sun. “Here, 150-160 is a winning score. We need to avoid losing wickets in the middle overs. If we can fix that, we can go a long way.”

Ashraful also hailed captain Nurul Hasan’s leadership and pacer Khaled Ahmed’s remarkable form. Khaled, with 10 wickets in three matches, has added precision to his pace. “Nurul’s calm captaincy in low-scoring games boosts confidence in the bowling attack,” Ashraful said.

Conditions in Georgetown have made stroke-making tough, requiring patience and calculated aggression. “You cannot force the pace here,” Ashraful emphasized. “Even bad balls are hard to hit.”

Guyana, backed by a passionate home crowd, bounced back from their opening loss to Rangpur, sealing their place in the final with a convincing win over Hobart Hurricanes.

With a $10,000 performance bonus already announced and history within reach, the Riders enter the final high on confidence. But to lift the GSL trophy again, they must overcome a strong Guyana side eager for revenge on home soil.
