The condition of eight victims of the Uttara plane crash tragedy out of the total 44 patients being treated at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) is stated to be critical.

All victims are being treated in three categories based on the severity of their injuries, where eight are in critical condition, 13 in severe condition, said NIBPS Director Nasir Uddin while briefing the media on Wednesday.

Besides, the condition of 23 patients is at an intermediate level, said Nasir Uddin based on the assessment of a medical board comprising specialised physicians who came from Singapore to assist in the treatment efforts.

Responding to a query, he said no decision to send the burn victims abroad for advanced treatment has yet been taken and it will not be possible to take any such decision within the next 48 hours.

The specialised team from Singapore is assessing the condition of the patients and helping bring changes in the treatment process in light of their skills and experiences, he said.

The death toll from the tragic crash of a fighter plane at the Uttara Milestone School and College has reached 31 as of Wednesday.
