The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery welcomes the offers by individuals to donate blood, skin and cash for the treatment of Uttara jet crash victims, but currently does not need these as it has enough in its reserves.

The hospital's Acting Director Prof Dr Nasir Uddin made the remarks at a press briefing held on the facility's premises on Thursday.

The government is bearing all the expenses for treating the children injured in Monday's deadly crash, the physician added.

So far, 13 patients have died at the hospital with jet crash injuries, and 42 are currently undergoing treatment, he noted. As per the ISPR, the total death toll from the fatal incident reached 34 by Thursday night.

Among the 42 admitted patients, eight are receiving treatment at the ICU -- six with critical conditions. On a note of hope, the physicians are finalising plans to move two of the ICU patients to an intermediate-risk facility due to improving conditions.

Furthermore, 13 patients have been shifted to cabins from intermediate-risk facilities over the previous 48 hours, Prof Nasir Uddin added. Many of these new cabin patients may even be discharged within a day or two.

The hospital staff are doing their utmost to treat the patients, with additional support from Indian, Singaporean and Chinese medical teams, he said.
