The Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has praised Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman for ensuring the Islamic group stays as an example for other political parties in Bangladesh to follow.

"Under his watch, the Jamaat has maintained a reputation for internal discipline and probity—something all parties would do well to emulate," Shafiqul Alam wrote on a facebook post early Sunday.

"In a time of deep uncertainty, his calm leadership and willingness to engage constructively in the reform process have stood out," the press secretary noted.

Shafiqul also wished a speedy full recovery for Dr Shafiqur following a heart surgery, and prayed for the right-wing politician's well-being.

"I am thinking of Shafiqur Rahman bhai [brother] after his heart surgery and am keeping him in my prayers...Wishing him strength, peace of mind, and a speedy full return to health, insha’Allah."
