Bangladesh Under-19 skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim said on Tuesday that they are eyeing to clinch the forthcoming World Cup as they are beaming with confidence with their recent performance in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Junior Tigers returned home on Tuesday evening after a successful tour of Africa as they triumphed over South Africa 2-1 in a three-match one-day series in Benoni while went on to win the tri-nation one-day series in Zimbabwe involving South Africa and the host.

With the ICC Under-19 World Cup scheduled for 2026 in Zimbabwe and Namibia, captain Tamim said the series results provide a major boost for the team.

“Alhamdulillah, we have played a good series,” Tamim told reporters on Tuesday.

“The World Cup will also take place there, that’s why we felt better to play well there,” he said.

“Yes, of course (we can win WC) and we are trying to prepare ourselves,” he added. “We are working hard for the last one year and preparing ourselves mentally and physically as we are going for the World Cup.”

“South Africa is a big team. The way we beat them on their soil, and then in Zimbabwe, will definitely build up our confidence,” he concluded.
