BSF pushes in 13 Bangladeshis thru Bholahat border

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 13 people who were pushed into the country from India through the Chandshikari border in Bholahat upazila of Chapainawabganj in  the early hours of Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, commanding officer of the 59-BGB Mahananda Battalion, said that members of India’s 119 Battalion BSF from the Kanchantar camp pushed in 13 Bangladeshi men through the border near pillar no- 196/2-S under Chandshikari Border Outpost (BOP) of Bholahat union.

He said that a BGB patrol team from Chandshikari BOP later detained them about 800 yards inside Bangladesh territory. The detainees are residents of different districts across the country.

According to Lt Col Kibria, during preliminary questioning the men said that they had entered India at different times between 2023 and 2025 in search of work.

They were arrested by Indian police, served various prison terms, and were later handed over to the 119 Battalion BSF.

Subsequently, the Kanchantar BSF camp pushed them back into Bangladesh near the border pillar 196/2-S.

The BGB official said the detainees would be handed over to the local Bholahat Police Station for further legal procedures.
