A Dhaka court on Tuesday deferred the submission of the probe report in the Bangladesh Bank reserve heist case, setting a new date of 29 September.

Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain set the new date, marking the 88th delay in submitting the probe report.

The submission of the investigation report was scheduled for the day, but the Crime Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit it. As a result, the court set a new date for submission.

On 5 February 2016, hackers siphoned off $101 million from Bangladesh Bank’s accounts with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York using a SWIFT code.

Of this amount, $81 million was transferred to four accounts with RCBC in Manila, and another $20 million was sent to a bank in Sri Lanka.

However, the transfer of $20 million to Sri Lanka failed due to a spelling error by the hackers. Later, Bangladesh Bank was able to retrieve about $15 million from the Philippines.

Bangladesh Bank Deputy Director Zobayer Bin Huda subsequently filed the case with Motijheel Police Station on 15 March 2016.
