The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained seven Bangladeshi nationals, including five women, in separate drives along the Moheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

A press release issued Tuesday confirmed it. It was signed by Munshi Imdadur Rahman, Assistant Director of Khulishpur 58 BGB Battalion.

The detained two men were identified as Shanto Sarkar, 21, from Badurgacha village in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah, and Subol Halder, 68, of Pukuria village in Madaripur district.

According to BGB, personnel at the Shyamkur border outpost (BOP) apprehended one woman from the Chairman Ghat area around 11:30am on Tuesday. At the same time, a separate team from Baghdanga outpost detained six others from Hudapara village.

BGB claimed that all seven were attempting to cross into India without legal documents. The five detained women have been sent to the Justice and Care Center in Jashore, while the two men were handed over to Moheshpur police station.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Moheshpur Police Station Sajjadur Rahman said legal proceedings have been initiated to produce the two men before court.
