The Election Commission (EC) will announce the roadmap for the 13th parliamentary election on Thursday, as it has already approved the plan.

Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said this while talking to reporters at the commission office in Agargaon area of Dhaka on Wednesday.

The approval came at a meeting held at the EC headquarters, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.

The four other commissioners were also present at the meeting, which finalised several electoral tasks, including hearings on constituency demarcation.

Akhtar said, “We are finalising a few more tasks. Hopefully, the election roadmap will be announced tomorrow. I will be able to share more information with you.”

Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has previously announced that the election will be held before Ramadan in February next year, while the EC is expected to announce the schedule for the election in early December.

the EC has already highlighted issues of party registration, boundary demarcation, election observers, representation of the People Order (RPO) reform, issuance of rules and regulations, IT-supported registration and postal ballot system for expatriates, and procurement of election equipment in the roadmap.
