Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 12am on Saturday as his condition deteriorated, said a physician at the hospital.

Nur's condition will remain uncertain for the next 48 hours, the doctor added.

Nur is suffering bleeding in his brain, said Rashed Khan, general secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad, at a briefing in front of DMCH emergency department at 12:45am on Saturday.

Nur was admitted to the hospital with injuries sustained during a clash with army and police, which caused injuries among both sides. Gono Odhikar Parishad activists allegedly launched the first attacks on law enforcers after officers intervened to reduce tensions between the party and Jatiya Party (JaPa).

Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Rashed Khan, however, claims the law enforcers attacked them when they were peacefully preparing to hold a briefing on earlier clashes with Jatiya Party.
