The Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued three fishermen after their boat went adrift following an engine failure near Saint Martin, officials confirmed.

The fishing vessel MV Saima had set out with three fishermen from the Saint Martin area when its engine shaft broke, leaving the boat stranded at sea.

As the vessel drifted toward the Cheradi Island area, a local fisherman alerted the Coast Guard via mobile phone.

Responding swiftly, a rescue team from Coast Guard Station Saint Martin located the boat and brought the stranded fishermen to safety.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, said the rescued fishermen were provided with food and initial medical treatment before being handed over to the boat’s owner.

He added that the Coast Guard remains committed to conducting similar rescue operations to ensure the safety of fishermen and coastal communities.
