Swatantra Shikkharthi Oikya (Independent Students' Unity) panel vice-president candidate Umama Fatema has announced to boycott the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), describing the polls as “utterly shamelessly manipulated.”

She made the announcement in the early hours of Wednesday while the results of DUCSU and hall union elections were being declared.

“Boycott! Boycott! I boycott DUCSU,” Umama said in a Facebook post.

“After 5 August, the Dhaka University administration has brought shame to the nation. This administration is controlled by Shibir,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal-backed vice-president candidate, Abidul Islam Khan, rejected the results of the DUCSU polls over allegations of vote rigging.

According to election results from different halls, Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed vice-president candidate Abu Shadik Kayem was leading the race.
