The New York City Police have detained Jubo League activist Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury after he threw eggs at NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossen in the biggest US city on Tuesday.
Mizanur was detained from the city’s Jackson Heights area on Monday night local time, after a BNP activist complained to the police that the Jubo League activist tried to assault him with a knife earlier in the day.
Mizanur and his accompanying Awami League men chanted “Joy Bangla,” when he was being detained. Police said he would be produced before a court on Tuesday.
On Monday afternoon, some activists of Awami League, a banned political party in Bangladesh, threw eggs and hurled expletives at Akhter Hossen as he landed at New York City’s John F Kennedy International Airport.
Akhter was there as part of a Bangladesh political delegation expected to join the annual session of UN General Assembly.
