A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Shahed Ahmed Majumder, son of former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, on a five-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Gulshan police station in the capital.

Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman passed the order after the police produced the accused before the court seeking a 10-day remand for him.

On Saturday night, the Counter Terrorism Unit apprehended Shahed in the Niketan area of Gulshan, and he was later shown arrested in the case.

On 19 October last year, former state minister and Awami League MP Kamal Ahmed Majumder was arrested and has been behind bars since then.
