Gono Odhikar leader calls for unity and religious harmony in Tangail

Gono Odhikar Parishad senior council member and central office secretary Shakil Uzzaman has declared that no one will be allowed to use the “minority” tag to divide Hindu brothers and sisters. He stressed that the common identity of all citizens is that they are Bangladeshi.

Shakil Uzzaman made the remarks on Wednesday at 8pm while visiting Durga Puja celebrations in Bhuapur upazila of Tangail, where he exchanged greetings with members of the Hindu community.

He said, “We envision a Bangladesh where religious harmony and mutual respect become the foundation. People of all faiths will practise their religion with enthusiasm and joy, while respecting each other’s beliefs.”

Local leaders of Gono Odhikar Parishad joined the programme, including Tangail district vice-president Rubel Khan, joint general secretary Zahidul Islam Tarun, office secretary Omar Faruk, Bhuapur upazila president Md Abdul Khalek, general secretary Md Samad Khan, and senior joint general secretary Md Enamul Islam.

Also present were Md Sajib, senior vice-president of Tangail district Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, Sheikh Rezwan Ronju, vice-president of Gopalpur upazila Gono Odhikar Parishad, along with other leaders.
