Sewing training programme launched in Monpura to empower women

A three-month-long free sewing training programme for underprivileged women has been launched in Monpura upazila of Bhola, organised by Bashundhara Shuvosangho with financial support from Bashundhara Group, one of the country’s leading industrial conglomerates.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday at the hall room of Monpura Government Degree College.
The initiative aims to create opportunities for disadvantaged women to become self-reliant by providing them with vocational training and sewing machines upon completion of the course.
The event was presided over by Fazle Rabbi Rimon, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Monpura upazila branch.
Chief Guest Mohammad Salauddin, lecturer of Political Science at Monpura Government Degree College, highlighted the social impact of the programme.
“Bashundhara Shuvosangho has always worked for social development and public welfare. This training will create employment for women and enable them to support their families,” he said.
Special guests included Amena Begum, assistant teacher of Sonarchar Government Primary School, Shafayat Hossain Siam, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Bhola district branch, youth social worker Sohel Taj, and Mir Abid Hossain Rafi, vice president of the district branch.
Speaking at the programme, Shafayat Hossain Siam said, “This initiative, funded by Bashundhara Group, will help underprivileged women achieve self-reliance. The training will economically empower rural women and open new doors to employment.”
Participants expressed gratitude for the initiative. Mitu Begum, a trainee, said, “Through this free sewing training, we will be able to earn an income ourselves. I thank Bashundhara Group for taking such a noble initiative to make underprivileged women self-reliant.”
Local leaders of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, including General Secretary Abdur Rahman Soeb, emphasised that the project would reduce dependency and enable women to stand on their own feet.
Rural women in Monpura welcomed the launch of the program with joy, expressing hope that the training would help transform their lives.
