Palm seed planting programme organised in Shibchar

Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Monday planted palm tree seeds in Shibchar, Madaripur, to help prevent casualties from lightning strikes.

Shibchar unit of Shuvosangho organised the event with the slogan 'Plant palm trees, prevent lightning'.

SM Delowar Hossain, general secretary of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Shibchar unit, highlighted the importance of palm trees in combating natural disasters and their contribution to providing nutritious food. 

He said, “Every year, many lives are lost in Bangladesh due to lightning strikes and palm trees only provide protection during lightning strikes.” 

Delowar continued, “Programs like this will gradually be implemented in every union of Shibchar and awareness campaigns will be launched at school and college levels.” 

He also urged people to plant palm trees in school premises, open fields, and along roadsides.

Palm trees Palnting

Assistant Organising Secretary of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Shibchar unit Ishrakur Rahman, Information and Technology Secretary Arfin Mohammad Sajib, Assistant Publicity and Publication Secretary Tanoy Roy, and Executive Members Rafiqul Islam and Al Mamun among others were present at the event.

In addition, school teachers Shahadat Hossain, Babul Dhali, Touhid Dhali, Hachan Dhali, Rasel Khan, and Rezaul Karim, along with local youths, took part in the event. 

After the seed-planting, the Shuvosangho members urged local residents to take care of and nurture the palm trees.
