Italian Ambassador Andronico Alessandro on Wednesday morning paid a courtesy call on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman.

The ambassador inquired about Dr Shafiqur Rahman’s health and wished him a full recovery. “The meeting was held in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere,” Jamaat’s media wing said.

During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on the overall situation prevailing in Bangladesh, investment opportunities in Bangladesh and Italy, and other matters of mutual interest and international relations.

They hoped that Italian investment in Bangladesh would further increase in the future.

Italy’s strong support for Bangladesh would continue in the future, the ambassador said.

Also present at the meeting were Italian Deputy Ambassador Federico Zamparelli, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, and Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair.
