Anti-drug discussion held in Fulgazi

To raise awareness about the devastating effects of drug abuse, Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an anti-drug discussion in Fulgazi upazila of Feni on Wednesday afternoon (8 Oct).

The event, held at a local restaurant, was aimed at promoting community consciousness under the theme- “Say Together — No to Drugs, Yes to a Pure Life.”

The discussion was chaired by Rahat Chowdhury, vice president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Fulgazi Upazila Branch, and conducted by General Secretary Tanjid Shuvo.

Jasim Forazi, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Feni District Committee, attended the event as the chief guest.

In his remarks, Jasim Forazi said, “To protect our youth, we must build a strong social movement against drugs. An aware young person can inspire many others to stay away from this menace.”

Special guests included Mohammad Sharid, president of Feni Sadar Upazila Branch; Zia Uddin, general secretary of Sadar Upazila Branch; and Sohrab Hossain, president of Feni Government College Branch.

They emphasised that drug abuse has become one of the biggest threats to families, society, and the nation. They also underscored the vital role of families, teachers, community leaders, and the media in raising awareness among young people about the dangers of drugs.

Other attendees included Vice President Abdur Rahim Babu, Joint General Secretaries Shafayat Ullah, Ishtiaq Rasul Sanbin, and Azad Hossain Chowdhury, Literature and Cultural Secretary Shahidul Islam Dalim, Work and Planning Secretary Adar Patwari, and members Muhammad Zubair Hossain, Zia Uddin Tushar, Mitul, and Zidan, among others.

Speakers at the discussion highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse, urged students to stay vigilant, and called for a united social movement to eliminate drugs from society.
