To address the growing concern of moral degradation in society, speakers at a discussion programme in Patuakhali emphasised the need to build a conscious and value-driven young generation.

The programme, titled “Our Responsibilities in Preventing Moral Degradation,” was organised by the Patuakhali district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Sunday at the auditorium of Patuakhali Government Jubilee High School.

The session, held from 10:00am to 11:00am, was attended by students, teachers, members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, and local media representatives.

Md Alauddin, principal of Patuakhali Government Jubilee High School, attended the event as the chief guest. In his remarks, he said, “The erosion of morality in our society has become a major challenge for families, education, and the social environment. From childhood, children and adolescents must be nurtured with honesty, empathy, responsibility, and human values. A morally upright society can only be built through joint efforts of families and schools.”

He also lauded Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s initiative as timely and called on the young generation to grow up as ideal, responsible, and patriotic citizens.

Zahirul Islam, president of the Patuakhali district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, said in his address, “Social organisations have a vital role in preventing moral decline. The mission of Shuvosangho is to spread positive thinking and the practice of human values throughout society.”

Among others, Mehedi Hasan Nabil, social welfare secretary of the district chapter, and members Sumaiya Tanjin Sneha, Rukaiya Akter, and Saiful Islam were present.

Speakers at the event noted that moral education should not remain confined to textbooks but be integrated into everyday life. They urged every student to practice ethical behaviour in their own spheres of influence.

At the end of the programme, participants pledged to continue regular awareness activities to promote moral values, foster humanity, and inspire positive change in society.
