Bashundhara Shuvosangho has installed dustbins at various locations across the tourist town of Tetulia in Panchagarh to promote environmental cleanliness and awareness.
On Monday, dustbins were set up at five key points, including the historic Tetul Tola area. Volunteers also held awareness discussions with local residents, urging them to take part in keeping the area clean.
Tetulia, known for its scenic view of Kanchenjunga, lush tea gardens and tourist attractions, welcomes thousands of visitors each year. To maintain the town’s beauty and hygiene, Bashundhara Shuvosangho launched this initiative as part of its ongoing environmental campaign.
National Environment Award winner Mahamudul Islam welcomed the initiative, encouraging locals to use the bins properly to keep Tetulia clean.
Ferdous Alam Liton, General Secretary of Tetulia Upazila unit of Shuvosangho, said, “We began by installing bins in five spots including Tetul Tola and the main market. We will soon expand to Dak Bungalow and the old market.”
Shuvosangho’s Tetulia Upazila unit President Humayun Kabir added that their efforts to keep Tetulia clean would continue, noting that previous proposals made to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer had already been implemented.
Local teachers, social workers, and community members were present during the programme.
