Bangladesh winger Fahamedul Islam will miss the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against India on November 18 after accumulating two yellow cards in earlier matches, triggering an automatic one-match suspension under AFC regulations.
Fahamedul received his first booking on debut against Singapore on June 10 in Dhaka and was shown another yellow card during the away fixture against Hong Kong on Tuesday.
So far, Bangladesh players have picked up nine yellow cards in four qualifying matches. Ridoy and Mojibur Rahman were cautioned in the first meeting with India, while four players — including Fahamedul — were booked in the home game against Singapore.
With Fahamedul suspended, he is unlikely to be included in the preliminary squad when training begins in late October. However, head coach Javier Cabrera will make the final decision regarding the squad selection.
