Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI bowling rankings, following his stellar performances in the 3-0 series sweep over Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi.

Rashid took 11 wickets in three matches, including a five-wicket haul in the second ODI, to surge five places and regain top spot with 710 rating points — 30 more than South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, who climbed to second. This marks Rashid’s third stint as the world’s top-ranked ODI bowler since first reaching the summit in September 2018. He was last ranked No. 1 in November 2024.

Among other notable movements, Azmatullah Omarzai jumped 19 places to a career-best No. 21 after taking seven wickets in the series, while Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed sits 11 places behind at No. 34. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also rose four spots to No. 24.

In the batting charts, Ibrahim Zadran continued to break new ground for Afghanistan, climbing eight places to a career-best second position with 213 runs in the series. His 686 rating points surpass the previous Afghan best held by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who himself moved up two spots to No. 16.

The Afghans are shining across departments: Azmatullah Omarzai has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ODI all-rounder rankings — his second stint at the top since February — while Rashid Khan advanced to No. 4.

For Bangladesh, Towhid Hridoy rose seven places to 42nd, and veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi climbed six spots to 50th.
