West Indies head coach Darren Sammy and opener Brandon King turned up at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday afternoon for an optional training session, after the visitors cancelled their scheduled team practice and pre-series press conference earlier in the day.

The Caribbean side, who arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday to play a six-match white-ball series against Bangladesh, were slated to hold their first training session at the academy ground along with a media interaction. However, the plans were called off.

Despite the cancellation, coach Sammy and King decided to make use of the facilities.

King, with the previous Bangladesh experience, is expected to play a key role at the top of the order.

The rest of the West Indies contingent opted to rest at the team hotel after a hectic travel schedule from India, where they recently concluded a two-match Test series.

The visitors are scheduled to resume full training on Friday ahead of the opening One-Day International on the 18th October.
