At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the 27th National Cricket League (NCL) saw a strong fightback from Mymensingh Division, who ended Day 1 on 268 for 7 after 80 overs against defending champions Sylhet Division.
Mymensingh’s innings revolved around a patient and determined knock from Ariful Islam, who scored a well-crafted 101 off 208 balls, anchoring the side after a top-order collapse. Abdul Mazid provided crucial support with a steady 65 off 139 deliveries, as the duo added much-needed stability in the middle overs following an early slump at 21 for 3.
Sylhet’s pacer Syed Khaled Ahmed was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 48 runs, while maintaining relentless pressure throughout the day. Despite the early breakthroughs from Sylhet’s bowlers, Mymensingh’s middle order showed resilience to keep the scoreboard moving.
At stumps, Rakibul Hasan and Maruf Mridha were yet to bat but the day will be resumed by Abu Hider Rony(16 not out) and Shohidul Islam(10 not out), with Mymensingh looking to push past the 300-run mark on Day 2.
