Nasrin Sports Academy, reigning champions of the Bangladesh Women’s Football League, are set to represent Bangladesh in the inaugural SAFF Women’s Club Championship, scheduled to take place in Kathmandu, Nepal, from December 5 to 20.
To strengthen their squad for the regional competition, Nasrin have signed three players from the Nepali national team — defender Pooja Rana and forwards Dipa Shahi and Samiksha Ghimire.
Club owner Nasrin Akhter confirmed the signings, expressing confidence that the new recruits would bring valuable international experience and depth to the side.
The tournament will feature five clubs competing in a round-robin league format. Nasrin Sports Academy will begin their campaign on the opening day before taking on Karachi City FC of Pakistan on December 8, East Bengal FC of India on December 14, and Transport United of Bhutan on December 17. The top two teams from the league stage will face off in the final on December 20 to decide the champions.
Nasrin have retained most of the players who guided them to the domestic league title last season. However, they are likely to be without eight national team regulars — including Rituporna Chakma and Maria Manda — who are expected to remain in the national camp.
Despite the potential absence of several key names, Nasrin Sports Academy remain optimistic. With the blend of experienced Nepali recruits and a proven local core, the Bangladeshi champions are aiming to make a strong impression in the first-ever SAFF Women’s Club Championship.
