Bashundhara Strikes continued their fine form in the ongoing league as they sealed an emphatic 5-wicket victory over Bangladesh Lawyers Cricket Club (BLCC) in a thrilling T20 encounter held at the Bashundhara Sports Complex on Friday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, BLCC posted a competitive total of 172 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was built on two impressive knocks from Syedul Tanvir Priyam and Sakib Rahman Nur, who led a strong batting display for the Lawyers’ side. Priyam smashed a fiery 68 off just 36 deliveries, laced with seven boundaries and three towering sixes, while Sakib played a composed yet aggressive 71-run innings off 48 balls, ensuring their team reached a defendable score.

Despite the onslaught, Bashundhara’s bowlers fought back in patches. Taposh Ghosh and Rony delivered tight spells, both claiming a wicket each. Taposh conceded only 19 runs in his 4 overs, while Rony gave away 21 runs in an equally disciplined performance. However, skipper Shezaad had a rare off day, finishing wicketless and conceding 63 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing 173 for victory, Bashundhara Strikes suffered early setbacks, losing both openers. But the match soon turned on its head thanks to a blistering counterattack from Sumon Ahmad, who played one of the compact innings of the tournament. His explosive 71 off 34 balls featured clean hitting and smart strike rotation, keeping the required rate under control.

Captain Shezaad then joined the chase with a composed 20 off 18 balls, hitting two massive sixes to steady the innings before Antu came in and finished the job in style, guiding Bashundhara Strikes to victory with several aggressive strokes in the closing overs.

For BLCC, Muntasir Ahmed was the standout performer with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 12 runs in 3 overs, giving his team a glimmer of hope midway through the innings.

With this victory, Bashundhara Strikes have further strengthened their position in the league and will look to carry the momentum into their next fixture against Grameenphone on 7 November at the same venue.
