After a three-year break, the prestigious Federation Cup returned to the domestic table tennis circuit, marking its first edition since 2021. This year, two new champions emerged in the singles events: Khoi Khoi Marma claimed the women’s singles title, while Muntahassin Ahmed Hridoy won the men’s singles for the first time.
In a thrilling women’s final, Khoi Khoi defeated multiple-time champion Sonam Sultana Soma 3–2 in a hard-fought battle. Khie Khie took an early lead winning the first game 11–4, but Soma responded 11–9. The intensity continued as both players exchanged games before Khie Khie sealed the victory 11–7 in the deciding set. She credited her confidence to a semifinal win over national champion Mou.
Unlike the women’s event, the men’s singles final was one-sided. Hridoy outplayed Ramhim 3–0 to clinch his maiden Federation Cup trophy. Expressing his delight, Hridoy said defeating top players and achieving this title was a proud moment.
The tournament featured men’s and women’s singles and team events. The Bangladesh Army dominated by winning men’s team, men’s singles, and women’s singles titles, while Ansar secured the women’s team championship.
Both Khoi Khoi and Hridoy now set their sights on the upcoming Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia, hoping to bring home a medal for Bangladesh.
