Newly appointed Bangladesh batting coach Mohammad Ashraful has called for more measured criticism of players, noting that social media scrutiny has made life in cricket increasingly difficult.
Ashraful emphasized on Thursday that every player strives to give their best and that criticism, when expressed thoughtfully, can be constructive.
"Yes, you should criticize, but if you do it a bit thoughtfully, that would be good, I think because everyone wants to give their best. So in that sense, I know the criticism will happen—that’s normal, that’s life. If you do well, people will lift you up to the sky; if you do badly, they’ll bring you down. So instead of worrying about that, I’ll just try to do my job," Ashraful said.
The Ireland series begins on November 11 with the first of two Tests, followed by three T20 matches.
