Bangladesh’s archers impressed on home Soil at the 24th Teer Asian Archery Championships 2025, with standout performances from Ram Krishna Saha, Bonna Akter, Himu Bachhar, and Sima Aktar Shimu during the qualification rounds. The hosts now advance confidently into Monday’s elimination stages, aiming for strong finishes in both individual and team events.

In the Recurve Men’s individual, Ram Krishna Saha maintained consistency throughout 72 arrows, scoring 668 points to finish sixth among 62 archers. Fellow recurve archers Rakib Mia (647), Sagor Islam (639), and Abdur Rahman Alif (637) also advanced. Bangladesh will face Vietnam in the quarterfinals of the team recurve event.

Bonna Akter shone in the Compound Women’s category, scoring a personal best of 693 points to secure 12th place. Her teammates Kulsum Akther Mone (688), Puspita Zaman (680), and Mithila Akter (662) will join her in the 1/16 elimination stage. Bangladesh’s compound women’s team also set a new national record of 2061 points, surpassing the previous 2045.

In the afternoon session, Himu Bachhar scored 704 points to finish 10th in Compound Men’s individual, while Recurve Women’s Sima Aktar Shimu hit 637 points, finishing 24th. Both, along with their teammates Mohammad Ashikuzzaman, Asif Mahmud, Nawaz Ahmed Rakib, Arovi Akter, Ety Khatun, and Sonali Roy, progress to the elimination rounds, with mixed and team events lined up against Kazakhstan and other top Asian contenders.

Coach Martin Fredrik praised the squad, highlighting top-six and personal best finishes as “strong signs of promise,” and emphasizing the archers’ teamwork and preparation ahead of the challenging knockout stages starting Monday.
