Three Khans to vie for Best Actor at Filmfare Awards

Superstars Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan will battle for the Best Actor trophy at the 62nd FilmFanre Awards, after a gap of 18 years. This is also the third time that the Khan trio has been nominated together for the same award.

The Filmfare Awards, 2017 will be held in Mumbai on January 14 and the list of nominations for ten categories has been announced. Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir have been nominated in the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) category for their performance in films ‘Fan’, ‘Sultan’ and ‘Dangal’ respectively. Amitabh Bachchan has also been nominated in the same category for ‘Pink’, so is Shahid Kapoor for ‘Udta Punjab’, Sushant Singh Rajput for ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, and Ranbir Kapoor for ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.

Previously, the three Khan superstars were nominated together once in 1999, when Shah Rukh was nominated for ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, Salman’s nomination was for ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’, while Aamir’s ‘Ghulam’ got him nominated for the award. Before that in 1996, King Khan was listed for the cult film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, Aamir was nominated for ‘Rangeela’ and Salman’s film with Shah Rukh ‘Karan Arjun’ got him nominated for the Filmfare Best Actor Award.

On both the occasions, it was Shah Rukh who walked away with the trophy. In fact, Shah Rukh also has won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for the maximum number of times, and has a tie with veteran actor Dilip Kumar at eight awards each. However, it appears tough for the ‘Raees’ actor to win the trophy this time around, as Big B, Shahid and

Aamir are also very strong contenders.  However, Aamir doesn’t care much about these popular awards and the actor is seldom present at such shows.
