RAJSHAHI: Organisers of book reading development programme of 164 educational institutions were given Rajshahi divisional best organisers Award-2016, reports BSS.
They get the prizes at a colourful prize giving ceremony held at Nanking Darbar Hall hosted by Bishwa Sahitya Kendra (BSK) here on Saturday.
More than 1652 educational institutions in 26 Upazilas under eight districts of Rajshahi division took part in the year-round book reading practice development programme for flourishing latent talents of students.
BSK under its Reading Habit Programme organised the programme in association with Secondary Education Quality and Access Enhancement Project (SEQAEP) to give away prizes among the organisers who show their best performance in the evaluation phase.
SEQAEP Director Dr Mahamud-Ul-Haque attended the programme as the chief guest with BSK Trustee Khandaker Asaduzzaman in the chair.
Additional Divisional Commissioner Aminul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif, Regional Director of Department of Secondary and Higher Education Prof Dr Abdul Mannan and District Education Officer Rafiqul Islam also spoke on the occasion. BKS Trustee Asaduzzaman told the meeting that there are 21.70 lakh readers under the book reading practice development programme across the country in 2017.
