Four suspected Neo JMB militants surrendered to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) during a raid at a suspected militant den at Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital, on Sunday.
The arrestees were identified as Mozammel Haque, Rashedul Nabi, Erfanul Huq and Alam, all aged between 20 and 22, RAB said.
They are members of Neo JMB Tamim-Sarwar group, said RAB director (legal and media wing) Wing Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan.
During the raid, there were no women and children inside the building, he said.
The four surrendered to the law enforcers one after another within an hour after 12:00pm.
Before surrender, they fired gunshots and hurled explosives at RAB, Mufti Mahmud said.
A RAB-4 team surrounded the house at Noyarhat’s Chourabali neighbourhood in the morning.
Members of a RAB special force and a bomb disposal unit joined them afterwards.
A helicopter was also seen circling overhead.
The bomb dispersal unit entered the building after surrender of the suspected militants, said RAB-4 Company Commander Maj Abdul Hakim.
Earlier, the houses in the area were evacuated, said Ashulia OC Abdul Awal, who was present during the raid.
Check-posts were also set up at important points on the surrounding roads, he added.
