Customs Intelligence officials arrested a man and seized 140 gold bars weighing 16.24 kg from Paltan area in the capital on Saturday.
The arrestee was identified as Rabiul.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) chief Moinul Khan said “We have information about a big deal of gold smuggling. Accordingly we seek help from Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (bajus).”
“Later, with the help of bajus we nabbed Rabiul along with 16.24 kg gold from Baitul Mukarram Market at about 6:00pm” he added.
