Having broad smiles on their faces, flood victims returned their homes with the relief goods they received from the East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL), a concern of Bashundhara Group, on Wednesday.
The EWMGL authorities distributed relief in several areas of Jamalpur and Dinajpur districts yesterday.
Some of the flood victims, who had been starving for a few days, broke down in tears when they were taking relief goods in hands.
In Jamalpur, EWMGL distributed relief goods among several thousands of flood victims of 11 unions and two municipalities at Umir Uddin School field in Melandaha upazila.
Representatives of EWMGL media outlets, in association with local administration, distributed the relief goods, including wheat flour, treacle, biscuits, medicines, oral saline, sari and lungi, to the flood victims.
The flood-hit people expressed their gratitude to all at EWMGL media outlets – daily sun, Kaler Kantho, Bangladesh Pratidin, Banglanews24, Radio Capital and News24 – for distributing relief goods.
Melandaha Upazila Chairman Habibur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer John Kenedy Jambil, municipality Mayor Safiq Zahedi Rabin, Awami League’s Upazila Unit President Abdur Razzak Suza, and its General Secretary Mohammad Zinnah were, among others, present on the occasion.
In Dinajpur, relief was distributed at Shaheed Zamir Uddin Girls’ School and College in Seikhpura union of Sadar upazila. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdur Rahman and Sheikhpura Union Parishad Chairman Babul Akhter spoke, among others, on the occasion.
Relief recipient Yadu Nath, an octogenarian, said the relief he received from EWMGL will help his family survive in the prevailing situation.
The EWMGL team also distributed relief at Progoti Sangho field in Mirzapur Christian area of the town on Wednesday morning.
Dinajpur ASP Mahfuz Zaman Ashraf, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdur Rahman and municipality councilors Maksuda Parvin Mina and Mostafizur Rahman Masud were, among others, present on the occasion.
