Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal lasted just 13 balls in their warm-up clash against Cricket South Africa Invitational XI in Benoni on Thursday.
The 28-year-old is a vital cog in the Bangladesh batting line-up ahead of two Test matches against South Africa, but he was forced to retire hurt one 5* when he pulled a muscle.
A Bangladesh media representative confirmed to Sport24.co.za that Tamim was ‘doing okay’ and he would be sent for scans to further understand the nature of the injury.
“Hopefully he will be fine,” the representative added.
Tamim has played in 51 Tests for the Tigers and averages just under 40.
He was particularly influential in the first Test win over Australia in Dhaka last month where his scores of 71 and 78 helped set up a famous victory for his side.
