Bangladesh cutter master Mustafizur Rahman is likely to miss the rest of South Africa series due to ankle injury. His injury ruled him out of Bangladesh’s first ODI against the hosts in Kimberley on Sunday.
Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza told journalists after the match that he would be sidelined for rest of the ODI series.
The left-arm pacer twisted his ankle while warming up during a practice session on Saturday. Mashrafe was disappointed with losing best bowling attack of team Bangladesh.
Mashrafe said: “We have been informed about Mustafizur’s injury on Saturday. The nature of his injury shows that he would be ruled out of the entire series.”
“The details will be informed officially later. Personally, I did not see any possibility to play any matches against South Africa tour,” he added.
Mustafizur will have a scan in Cape Town ahead of their second ODI on Wednesday. Team management will decide after getting the medical report whether the pacer will be able to play in the T20 series in South Africa.
