Man held for offering bribe to DC

CHITTAGONG: One person was arrested for offering bribe to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district for helping admission of his son at a government school in the city on Sunday.


The arrestee is identified as Md Shamsul Hoque, 45, son of Minnat Ali of the city’s Panchlaish area.


DC’s Staff Officer Ramij Alam told the daily sun that Shamsul went to the office room of DC Md Jillur Rahman Chowdhury at around 2:30pm.  


He requested the DC for helping admission of his son in class-V at Chittagong Collegiate School.


At one stage, he offered an envelope containing Tk 30,000 to the DC, said the staff officer.

Shamsul was arrested from the office and later handed over to Kotwali police.


Filing of a case in this connection was under process, said Staff Officer Ramij.
