Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said they will send a legal notice to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for her comment that ‘Padma Bridge is being built in a ‘faulty way’.
“The BNP must get the legal notice,” Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, came up with the remarks at a blanket distribution programme for underprivileged people at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
Quader called upon BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to prove his comment that there is a fault in the design of the Padma Bridge.
“You must prove that the design is faulty, otherwise you will have to face legal notice,” he said.
On December 23, Khaleda Zia sent a legal notice to Prime Minster and AL president Sheikh Hasina for her comment in the parliament about Zia family’s ‘illegal wealth’ in Saudi Arabia.
The prime minister mentioned the name of members of Zia family, who had siphoned off money abroad, based on the reports of the national and international media, Quader said.
The AL leader criticised BNP leaders for not standing by cold affected people of the country.
“We on behalf of the Awami League distributed more than 32,00000 blankets this winter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina already distributed one crore blankets among poor people,” said the minister.
