Awami League lawmaker Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir in parliament on Monday said all the allegations of loan irregularities brought against him over Farmers Bank are untrue.
Some media outlets published news that Alamgir is involved with irregularities of loan at Farmers Bank while discharging responsibilities as its chairman.
Taking the floor on a point of order, former Home Minister Alamgir said reports published in the media over the loan irregularities are based on imagination.
“Three newspapers published untrue stories against me with an ill motive,” he told the House with speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Mentioning the content of the report, Alamgir said, “Those papers claimed that being chairman, I took commission from the clients before disbursing the loan.”
“I have not faced such a blatant lie in my 77-year life,” he said. Media reported that an amount of Tk 13 crore deposited to his bank account on July 17.
“Here is my bank statement.Such an amount was not deposited to my account between July 17 and 26,” he said.
He urged the speaker to give directives to Bangladesh Bank governor not to leak such information.
