Bangladesh Cricket Board included keeper-batsman Mohammad Mithun in the squad for the two-match T20 series against Sri Lanka which starts today.
Mithun has been called as former captain Mushfiqur Rahim and opener Tamim Iqbal have added to Bangladesh’s injury woes yesterday. Tamim Iqbal has muscle pain in the arm and Mushfiqur Rahim is nursing a sore wrist which make it uncertain for the players to get fit before today’s game scheduled to start at 5:00pm today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital.
“Tamim felt some pain in his bicep all of sudden yesterday. This is why we are still waiting to decide our combination,” stand-in skipper Mahmudullah said on Wednesday.
“There are also some concerns about Mushfiqur as he has niggles on his wrist. But we hope he will be alright.”
Mithun played for Rangpur Riders in the last edition Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament where he batted some crucial innings for the team which led them to their first ever BPL title.
If regular opener Tamim do not recover from his pain by today, Mithun is likely to open the batting for team Bangladesh.
