Antonio Conte has told moaning players fed up with his “boring” training sessions that there is no place for laughter and smiles at Chelsea.
The under-fire Blues manager, who this week has told his players to stop acting like kids as they battle to get out of their crisis, has warned them that hard graft is the only thing on the menu at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea face bottom of the table West Brom on Monday with the Italian’s position under major threat after three defeats in his last four games, and a running battle all season with owner Roman Abramovich over transfers.
But a defiant Conte said: “Usually when you work, you don’t smile. Especially if you work hard. It’s very difficult to smile.
“You understand that only through work can you reach a fantastic target like we did last season, winning the league. Last season, our work allowed us to reach an incredible target.”
