Baby girl violated in port city, three sued

CHITTAGONG: A case was filed accusing three persons in connection with violating a 22-month-old baby with a Chittagong court on Thursday.

Victim’s mother filed the case with the court of Chittagong Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Motahir Ali, said district Legal Aid Panel Lawyer Md Salah Uddin Chowdhury Rokon. 

Taking the case into cognisance, the court ordered officer in-charge (OC) of concerned Satkania police station to take steps after completion of investigation into the matter, said the lawyer. 

The accused were identified as Md Shakib, 20, his father Mokter, 45, and mother Mariam Begum, 38, of village Hatiar Kul under Garangia union of Satkania upazila in the district.   

The victim’s 20-year-old mother, a neighbour of the accused, filed the case with the court after concerned police station allegedly refused to record the case.

According to the case, accused Shakib took the victim to him from the lap of her mother in name of making affection when the victim’s parents returned to residence after visiting a local physician in the morning on February 7.
