Customs officials seized 80 gold bars weighing 9.28 kilogrammes from an aircraft of Biman Bangladesh airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Wednesday.
“Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs conducted a drive at flight BG 248, which arrived at the airport from Dubai,” said a customs official.
“Later, we found the 80 gold bars in an abandoned condition inside a toilet of the aircraft,” he added.
None was held in this connection. The estimated price of the seized gold is around Tk 5 crore..
